JelloChat Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
Experimental Service. JelloChat is an experimental chat, community, direct message, and voice service. Features, availability, data practices, safety tools, and policies may change without notice.
1. Overview
JelloChat ("we", "our", "us") provides chat, community, direct message, account, moderation, and voice features. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, and what choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect and store:
- Account data: username, email address, password hash, avatar URL, date of birth or age-check information, account settings, account standing, and account status.
- Authentication and security data: email verification tokens, password reset tokens, passkey records, login/session tokens, IP address, user agent, device/browser signals, request timing, and security logs.
- User content: server messages, direct messages, uploaded or linked content, profile content, reports, and moderation-related records.
- Social and community data: friend requests, friendships, server membership, roles, channels, invites, bans, kicks, owner/admin/moderator actions, and server settings.
- Voice and real-time data: voice room identity, participant metadata, signaling data, connection status, and technical data needed to connect users to voice or screen-share sessions.
- Technical data: crash information, basic server logs, performance information, WebSocket connection data, API requests, rate-limit data, abuse-detection data, and bot-detection signals.
We do not store plaintext passwords. Passwords are stored as hashes.
Unless JelloChat adds an explicit recording feature later, we do not intentionally record or store the contents of live voice calls or screen shares. Voice and screen-share features may still require real-time routing, signaling, and connection metadata.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create, verify, authenticate, and manage accounts.
- Provide chat, direct message, friend, server, invite, role, moderation, voice, and screen-share features.
- Send service emails, including email verification, password reset, account termination, Terms updates, and Privacy Policy updates.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to spam, scams, bots, self-bots, automated signups, abuse, security incidents, and Terms violations.
- Enforce account standing, bans, restrictions, and moderation decisions.
- Maintain reliability, debug issues, prevent misuse, and improve performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect JelloChat, users, servers, and service providers.
4. Moderation, Safety, and Bot Detection
JelloChat may use automated and manual systems to review activity, messages, metadata, login behavior, signup behavior, rate limits, IP reputation, reports, and other safety signals.
These systems may flag, restrict, suspend, terminate, hide, or replace accounts or account names when activity appears to violate the Terms, involve bot activity, or create safety or security risk.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share information with service providers strictly as needed to operate JelloChat, including:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers.
- Database providers.
- SMTP/email providers such as Brevo.
- Voice or real-time communication providers such as LiveKit.
- Security, logging, or abuse-prevention providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, safety needs, abuse prevention, or to protect JelloChat, users, servers, service providers, or others.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and service data as long as needed to operate JelloChat, provide features, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce rules, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
When you delete your account, related data is removed according to system behavior and database constraints. Some information may remain for legitimate reasons, such as:
- Moderation logs.
- User reports.
- Ban records.
- Security logs.
- Message records needed for safety, dispute handling, or abuse prevention.
- Backups that expire on their normal schedule.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including password hashing, email verification, session tokens, access checks, rate limits, and abuse detection.
No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that JelloChat will be uninterrupted, error-free, or immune from unauthorized access, data loss, or security incidents.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Update account details.
- Request a password reset.
- Delete your account.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your information.
Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights, such as rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of certain personal information.
9. Children
JelloChat is not intended for children under 13, or a higher minimum age if required by local law.
We ask for date of birth or age-check information to help prevent underage account creation. If we learn that we collected personal information from someone under the minimum age without proper permission, we may restrict or delete the account and related information.
10. International Users
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different privacy and data protection laws than your location.
11. California and Other Privacy Rights
If privacy laws in your location apply to JelloChat, you may have rights to know what categories of personal information are collected, why they are used, whether they are shared, and how to request access, correction, deletion, or limitation of certain uses.
JelloChat does not sell personal information.
